Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has lost his son, sparking widespread grief in the entertainment industry days after actress Peju Ogunmola also lost her child.
Popular Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta, is grieving the death of his son. The 54-year-old film star disclosed the heartbreaking news in an Instagram post on Saturday, without revealing details surrounding the tragedy.
Sharing a photo of his late son, Chatta wrote, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.” The tribute immediately drew an outpouring of condolence messages from colleagues and fans, who expressed shock and offered prayers for the bereaved family.
The development comes only days after veteran actress Peju Ogunmola lost her only son, Ayomikun, who passed away in Ibadan earlier this week. The double tragedies have plunged the Nollywood industry into mourning, with several actors and fans taking to social media to share their grief.
Chatta’s loss also recalls his earlier revelation in June about the death of his first child, a daughter. He recounted how financial hardship and poor medical access contributed to her death years ago. The actor further disclosed that he was forced to bury her in a wooden Coca-Cola crate, as he could not afford a proper coffin.
The latest bereavement has intensified sympathy from the film community, highlighting the emotional toll of repeated personal tragedies on the celebrated actor.
