Northern leaders have asked President Bola Tinubu to urgently overhaul the security architecture and reshuffle his cabinet, warning that failure to act could worsen Nigeria’s crises.
The Northern Ethnic Nationality Forum (NENF) has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately overhaul the country’s security system and reshuffle his cabinet.
In a statement issued Sunday in Abuja by its Convener, Dominic Alancha, the group said it had “deeply examined the painful conditions of the people of Northern Nigeria and the nation at large” and resolved to demand urgent action.
NENF warned that banditry and terrorism have crippled farming, commerce, and transport, describing the situation as a “full-blown catastrophe.” It demanded the dismissal of all Service Chiefs and the declaration of a state of emergency on security.
On governance, the Forum expressed concern over “glaring underperformance” in the Federal Executive Council, urging Tinubu to replace weak ministers with “individuals of proven integrity and capability.”
While commending economic reforms, the group called for stronger palliatives, massive investment in agriculture, and improved infrastructure. “The time for action is now,” it stressed.
