The Federal Government has summoned domestic airlines over flight disruptions, unruly passengers, and unresolved refund issues, warning of sanctions and public naming of defaulting carriers.
The Federal Government has summoned all domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja following rising cases of flight disruptions and unruly passenger behaviour. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced the directive in a statement by its Director of Public Relations and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, via X on Tuesday.
“The NCAA has invited all domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja slated for tomorrow, Wednesday,” Achimugu confirmed.
He disclosed that the session would address issues of passenger handling protocols, unruly behaviour, and unresolved matters of refunds and compensations. The move comes amid growing scrutiny of the aviation sector and mounting passenger complaints.
The development follows NCAA’s warning on Monday that airlines would face sanctions for flight delays and cancellations. Achimugu had also stated that the regulatory authority had Federal Government approval to begin naming and shaming defaulting carriers.
The meeting, scheduled for Wednesday at the NCAA headquarters, is expected to yield stricter compliance measures.
