President Tinubu sacked his aide on digital and creative economy, Fegho Umunubo, after he was accused of using his office to execute fraudulent sponsorship deals in Nollywood.
Fresh details have emerged on why President Bola Tinubu dismissed Fegho Umunubo, his Special Assistant on Digital and Creative Economy in the office of Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Mr Umunubo was removed after being linked to multiple scams in the creative sector, where he allegedly used his office to broker fake sponsorship deals. One high-profile case involved filmmaker Arese Ugwu, creator of The Smart Money Woman. Documents show he signed an agreement pledging N10 million sponsorship for her new project, Lara Unlimited, including promotional rights for the presidency’s digital economy office.
On August 30, Ms Ugwu accused him on Instagram of fraud, saying, “He owes me N10 million, but this is about something bigger… finding out that he had no authorisation to be signing the agreements he was signing.”
The State House, in a statement signed by Director of Information Abiodun Oladunjoye, warned stakeholders to desist from dealing with Mr Umunubo.
