Authorities are investigating whether the fall was accidental, intentional, or caused by a structural issue.
A 53-year-old British man has died after falling from a height at Gran Canaria airport, Spanish police confirmed on Wednesday.
The man plunged more than 30 feet from a car park near the domestic departures area and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. His identity has not yet been released, though officials confirmed he was not a tourist.
A National Police spokesman said: “A 53-year-old British man fell from a height at Gran Canaria Airport, specifically in the car park located near the domestic departures area.”
Investigators are examining CCTV footage and considering whether the fall was accidental, intentional, or the result of a structural failure. Police secured the scene before the body was removed.
The incident caused shock among airport staff, though operations continued, according to Canarian Weekly. In July, a 25-year-old British tourist died after a similar fall in Ibiza.
The investigation is ongoing.
