Air Peace disputes report, insisting it has received no official communication from investigators.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has released a preliminary report on the July 13, 2025, Air Peace incident at Port Harcourt, revealing that some crew members tested positive for alcohol while one cabin crew member tested positive for THC, the active compound in cannabis.

The Boeing 737-524 aircraft, with 103 people onboard, landed 2,264 meters beyond the Runway 21 threshold at Omagwa airport before stopping 209 meters into the clearway. No injuries were reported.

NSIB urged Air Peace to strengthen crew resource management (CRM) training and enforce stricter fitness-for-duty checks.

Air Peace, however, said it had not received any official communication from NSIB. “Drug use is a NO-NO! We have a very strict alcohol use policy,” the airline stated, adding that the captain had been relieved of duties for CRM failure, not alcohol use.

The airline pledged stronger internal monitoring while reaffirming its commitment to passenger safety.
