NABAPPMAN says bambara nut has health benefits and economic potential, urging Nigerians to embrace its cultivation and use.

The National Bambara Nut Producers, Processors, and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NABAPPMAN) has urged Nigerians to embrace the crop for its medicinal and economic value.

Speaking during the maiden national executive meeting and the opening of NABAPPMAN’s national headquarters in Abuja on Saturday, President Suleiman Isiaka highlighted its potential. “Bambara nut is medicinal for curing cancer, diabetes, and liver diseases. It is also a commodity capable of driving economic growth and national development,” he said.

He noted that over 30 food products can be derived from the nut, including milk, cake, and swallow. He added that the association is targeting ten million tons of production and membership within the next two years.

Vice President Anthony Nwafor described the nut as a high-protein food suitable for all, urging wider cultivation, government funding, and media sensitization.
