NDLEA intercepted 2.2 million tramadol pills worth ₦3.99 billion at Lagos airport, arresting an Indian businessman and three Nigerians.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested Gupta Ravi Kumar, an Indian businessman, alongside Nigerians Ogunlana Noah Olanrewaju, Olushola Idrees Kayode, and Bakare Korede Muheeb, following the seizure of 2,248,000 tramadol pills at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Spokesman Femi Babafemi said: “The tramadol shipment, worth N3.99 billion in street value, was imported from Delhi, India, disguised as multivitamins in 114 cartons on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.

NDLEA officers swooped on a clearing agent and drivers moving the consignment in two trucks. A follow-up operation led to Kumar’s arrest when he arrived to claim it.”

The agency emphasized that the arrests form part of its ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) and nationwide crackdown on illicit narcotics trafficking.
