Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to connecting Nigerian cities through railways and roads to boost industrialisation.
Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday reiterated the resolve of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to connect all Nigerian cities by rail and road to advance industrialisation.
Speaking at the opening of the 2nd International Railway Conference in Abuja, Shettima stressed the need to revitalise rail services to position Nigeria as Africa’s logistics hub.
“The challenge ahead of us is to lead this race as the logistics hub of Africa by reviving and revitalising our railway services,” he said.
He cited ongoing projects such as the Lagos–Kano, Kano–Maradi, and Port Harcourt–Maiduguri railways, noting that private sector participation would ensure timely completion and sustainability.
Shettima added that railways provide safer, cheaper, and environmentally friendly alternatives to road transport, reducing congestion, accidents, and emissions.
He assured that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda places rail and road connectivity at the centre of national development.
