The Niger State Police Command has detained a man accused of posing as a soldier and attempting to rob two people in Minna. According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, Public Relations Officer for the command, the arrest was made on September 16 at about 4:20 p.m. by a police surveillance team working with state traffic personnel at the City Gate.

The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Abdullahi from Kubwa, Abuja, allegedly stopped a motorcycle carrying two passengers on the Tutungo–Farindoki Road, claiming he would take them to the Army barracks. Instead, he diverted the route toward City Gate, “leaving the barracks behind.” When the victims realized his intention, they raised an alarm. The crowd intervened as Abdullahi attempted to flee with the motorcycle; he was “immediately rescued from the mob and arrested.” He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation.
