Presidential aide Daniel Bwala says Seyi Tinubu has the right to seek political office, including governorship, despite being the president’s son.
Daniel Bwala, special adviser on public communications to President Bola Tinubu, says the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, cannot be disqualified from political contests because of his family background.
Speaking on “The Clarity Zone Podcast,” Bwala addressed growing speculation that Seyi plans to run for Lagos governor in 2027, noting the president’s son has not announced any political ambition. “I have known the children of presidents in Nigeria. He (Seyi) is unassuming. Check his friends, the childhood friends, and people he grew up with,” Bwala said.
He dismissed claims that Seyi’s charitable activities are tied to political motives, insisting the president’s son should not be “gaslighted or blackmailed.” Bwala added, “Even if his father is a president, what stops him from running as a governor? He can even challenge his father in the election as a president.”
Seyi Tinubu has remained silent on his political future despite persistent rumors of a 2027 governorship bid.
