Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron will submit photographic and scientific evidence in a US court to counter Candace Owens’ claims that the French first lady was born male.

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, will present photographic and scientific evidence in a US court as part of their defamation lawsuit against conservative commentator Candace Owens.

The couple’s lawyer, Tom Clare, told the BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast that the evidence will include “expert testimony that will come out that will be scientific in nature,” alongside photographs of Brigitte, now 72, during her pregnancies.

“It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself, to put this type of proof forward,” Clare said, describing the distress the allegations have caused the first lady. “But she’s willing to do it. She is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.”

Owens has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that Brigitte was born male and later transitioned. In July, the Macrons filed a lawsuit in Delaware, accusing Owens of ignoring credible evidence in favor of conspiracy theories.

Similar allegations first surfaced in France in 2021, when Brigitte sued two women. While she initially won, the ruling was overturned on appeal, and the case now sits before France’s highest appeals court.

The Macrons married in 2007 after meeting in 1993 when Emmanuel was her student.
