French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, will present photographic and scientific evidence in a US court to disprove claims that the French first lady was born male.

The couple is pursuing a defamation lawsuit against US conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly alleged that Brigitte, 72, secretly transitioned.

Their attorney, Tom Clare, told the BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast that there will be “expert testimony that will come out that will be scientific in nature.” He added the evidence would include photographs of Brigitte when she was pregnant.

“It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself, to put this type of proof forward,” Clare said. “But she’s willing to do it. She is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.”

The lawsuit, filed in Delaware in July, accuses Owens of ignoring credible evidence while amplifying conspiracy theories.
