Ogun State Government has ordered a contractor off a Sagamu road project facilitated by Senator Gbenga Daniel, citing lack of state approval.
The Ogun State Government has ordered a stop to work on the Paddy-Arikawe Oye Igbimo Road in Sagamu, a project facilitated by Senator Gbenga Daniel and awarded by the Presidency to Minim and Tonye Nigeria Limited.
In a letter signed by the Ministry of Works Permanent Secretary, Engr. Yusuf L.O., the contractor was directed to suspend work immediately for failing to obtain the required state approval.
Daniel’s aide, Steve Oliyide, criticised the directive as a “sinister motive” aimed at sabotaging federal interventions in Ogun East. He alleged similar interference in previous projects, accusing the state of “deliberately sabotaging the efforts of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
But Governor Dapo Abiodun’s media aide, Kayode Akinmade, dismissed the claims, insisting the contractor only needed to follow due process. “How can anyone equate asking a contractor to obtain necessary approval before working on a state road to political hostility?” he said.
The standoff adds to the growing tension between Abiodun and Daniel.
