Nigeria’s oil sector grew to 1.63m bpd in August, meeting 96% of OPEC quota, says NUPRC.
Nigeria’s upstream oil sector averaged 1.63 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil and condensates in August 2025, recording a year-on-year increase from 1.58m bpd in 2024, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The commission’s report, signed by its head of media and strategic communications, Eniola Akinkuotu, showed Nigeria met 96 per cent of its OPEC quota of 1.5m bpd.
“A breakdown of August 2025 production comprised 1.43 million bpd of crude oil, which grew by 5.47 per cent compared to August 2024,” it stated, adding that the rise reflected “steady recovery and improved operational performance.”
However, condensate output fell to 197,229 bpd from 220,435 bpd in 2024. Month-on-month production also dipped 4.7 per cent from July’s 1.71m bpd due to unscheduled maintenance.
Forcados Terminal led production with 8.99m barrels, followed by Bonny (6.26m), Qua Iboe (4.99m), and Escravos (4.18m).
