Police say NURTW official, Samsideen “Shamelon” Oladiti, will face trial over two violent incidents on Lagos Island.

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed plans to prosecute a 55-year-old National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, official, Samsideen Oladiti, popularly known as Shamelon, for alleged murder and assault on Lagos Island.

Oladiti is being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti-Yaba, following violent incidents on August 28 and September 17, 2025. Police reports allege he attacked a dispatch rider with a helmet and bare fists, leaving the victim hospitalised and on oxygen.

Barely a day later, another complaint linked him to an earlier altercation in which he allegedly struck a man repeatedly with a metallic ring. The victim later died from his injuries on September 17.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who visited the crime scene, assured that “the suspect is in custody and would be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.”

Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that Oladiti would be charged once investigations are finalised.
