President Bola Tinubu has summoned ex-Rivers administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas and EFCC chairman Ola Olukoyede to the State House, sparking speculation amid an Assembly probe of Ibas’s tenure.
The immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas, and the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, on Wednesday visited the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Although the purpose of their visit was not disclosed, Channels TV reported that Ibas arrived at the State House at about 5:50 p.m. DAILY POST gathered that President Bola Tinubu had summoned Ibas, who last week handed power back to Governor Siminalayi Fubara after his six-month suspension was lifted.
Ibas assumed control of the state in March when Tinubu directed Fubara’s suspension. However, with the governor’s reinstatement, lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly have resolved to investigate Ibas’s administration during the six-month period.
Neither the Presidency nor the EFCC has issued an official statement on the meeting.
