Trump’s critics say they fear politically motivated indictments after James Comey’s charges, while Trump hints more cases are coming.
Critics of President Donald Trump say they fear they could be the next targets after former FBI Director James Comey was indicted Thursday. Rep. Eric Swalwell warned, “Tomorrow it could be Adam Schiff, Letitia James, me, or anyone else who has dared to not kiss his ring.” Trump, who publicly cheered Comey’s indictment, suggested more charges against “sick, radical left people” may follow.
His Justice Department has already probed other critics, including John Bolton and Chris Christie. Schiff, facing a DOJ probe, called the case against Comey “a blatant abuse” of power, while Rep. Jamie Raskin said opponents must not “operate out of fear.”
Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, preemptively pardoned by President Biden, shrugged off any threat, saying, “Bring it… I did nothing wrong.” The White House maintains Biden’s administration, not Trump’s, engaged in “lawfare.”
