Nigerian educator Seyi Anifowose has entered the Guinness World Records after organising the largest gathering of teachers in history, with more than 60,000 participants in Lagos.
A Nigerian educator and advocate, Mr. Seyi Anifowose, has earned a place in the Guinness World Records for organising the largest gathering of teachers in history.
The milestone was achieved on September 20 at the “Let There Be Teachers Conference 2025” in Lagos, where over 60,000 teachers assembled to spotlight education and the welfare of Nigerian educators.
Guinness World Records representative, Rishi Nath, officially confirmed the achievement during a Zoom call on Thursday, commending Anifowose and his team for using the platform to elevate education as a critical national issue.
“This is more than a number. It is proof that teachers matter. It is a victory for education, and it is a victory for Nigeria,” Anifowose said.
He praised the resilience of teachers who endured rain, heat, and long verification lines to ensure the success of the record-breaking event. Anifowose also expressed gratitude to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, teacher unions, and education agencies for their support.
With the record now secured, Anifowose said his next focus will be on engaging the National Assembly to push for policy reforms aimed at strengthening the education sector and improving teachers’ welfare.
