Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has described Erika Kirk, widow of slain activist Charlie Kirk, as an emerging leader in MAGA politics, telling students at Virginia Tech: “You will have a leader that’s extraordinary.
Erika Kirk has demonstrated that she not only has the courage of a lion, but she has the heart of a saint.”
Charlie Kirk, 31, was killed on September 10 during a campus event in Utah. Since his death, his widow has taken over as CEO of Turning Point USA, the conservative youth movement he founded.
At a memorial service in Arizona attended by more than 100,000 people, Erika Kirk said she forgave her husband’s alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, “because it’s what Christ did.”
Her remarks contrasted with Donald Trump’s statement at the same event: “I hate my opponents, and I don’t want the best for them.
I am sorry Erika.” Analysts say Erika Kirk could now emerge as a central figure in Christian nationalism.
