Governor Siminalayi Fubara has dismissed all commissioners and public officers in Rivers State, citing a Supreme Court judgment and pledging renewed service to the people.
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sacked all commissioners and other public officers in his administration with immediate effect.
A statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, said the decision followed a recent Supreme Court judgment. The announcement came during a valedictory session with his cabinet at Government House, Port Harcourt, as part of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
“Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has thanked members of his cabinet for their services and contributions to the development of the state in the last two years,” the statement read.
Fubara urged Nigerians to work with President Bola Tinubu “to build a peaceful, secure and prosperous country,” while reiterating his commitment to serve Rivers people “with renewed vigour.”
The move ends weeks of uncertainty over the fate of the governor’s appointees after the exit of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), who had suspended commissioners during emergency rule.
