The DSS has grilled Lagos NURTW chairman Mustapha Adekunle, known as Sego, over threats to punish non-APC voters in 2027, though he later denied making such remarks, blaming rivals for propaganda.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has interrogated the Lagos State chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, over a statement warning that those who refuse to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 would face consequences.
In a video from a recent NURTW Lagos council meeting, Adekunle was heard saying: “Anyone who refuses to vote for APC or who says he has decided to vote against APC will be dealt with, the person will learn a lesson. If you say you will not listen to us, we too will not agree.”
The DSS invited him for questioning following outrage over the comments. However, in a video released on Friday and published by Goldmyne TV, Sego denied issuing threats, insisting he was a victim of “propaganda.”
“I was invited by the DSS, and they asked me about my statements… I didn’t threaten anyone. What the DSS said they were told is not true,” he said, blaming union rivals for twisting his remarks.
The development comes against the backdrop of past election violence in Lagos, including the widely condemned threats by MC Oluomo during the 2023 polls.
