Trump warns: “An agreement must be reached by Hamas by Sunday evening … if not, all hell, like no one has ever seen before, will break out.”
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has given Hamas until Sunday evening to accept his proposed peace deal for Gaza, warning of “all hell” if the group refuses.
Trump issued the ultimatum on Friday via Truth Social, following the unveiling of a 20-point peace plan earlier in the week alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan would see Gaza temporarily administered by a “technocratic, apolitical” committee overseen by a “Board of Peace,” chaired by Trump.
“Hamas must sign by Sunday, 6 p.m. Washington time,” Trump wrote. “Most of their troops are surrounded and militarily trapped, just waiting for me to give the word, ‘Go.’”
The deal calls for Hamas to release hostages taken during the October 7, 2023, attacks in exchange for Israel freeing thousands of Palestinian detainees. Hamas said it was reviewing the plan. Netanyahu warned that if Hamas declines, “Israel will finish the job by itself.”
