Trump has given Hamas until Sunday to accept his Gaza plan amid mounting military and diplomatic pressure, but the group remains split over its terms.
Hamas’ review of US President Donald Trump’s proposed Gaza plan entered its sixth day on Friday as Israeli forces intensified operations in Gaza City to pressure civilians to flee. Trump issued an ultimatum on Truth Social, demanding Hamas accept his proposal by “Sunday Evening at SIX (6) PM, Washington, DC time,” warning that “if this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas.”
Regional mediators including Qatar, Egypt and Turkey are urging the militant group to agree to the plan. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said, “We are coordinating… in order to convince Hamas to respond positively.”
Hamas remains divided, with some backing conditional acceptance and others rejecting disarmament clauses. A Palestinian official admitted the group faces “only bitter choices.”
Trump’s plan demands hostage releases, disarmament and Hamas’ exclusion from governing Gaza, while offering no clear path to Palestinian statehood.
