The Nigeria Police Force has introduced a digital system for obtaining and validating tinted glass permits through the POSSAP portal, with nationwide enforcement set for October 2025.
The Nigeria Police Force’s rollout of a digital annual tinted glass permit has continued to stir debate nationwide. In April 2025, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced that motorists must now apply online for the permit and pay prescribed fees annually. The initiative is being implemented through the Police Specialized Services Automation Portal (POSSAP), accessible via www.possap.gov.ng.
POSSAP is the official digital platform for accessing police services, including the reactivated Tinted Glass Permit. It automates verification, documentation and processing to enhance transparency and compliance. Full enforcement is expected to begin on October 2, 2025, despite legal challenges.
To apply, individuals must log in with their National Identification Number and Vehicle Number, while corporate bodies use their Tax Identification Number. Applicants validate their Vehicle Identification Number for ₦2,850, upload required documents, and pay an application fee of ₦14,200 before completing facial verification. Approved permits are issued digitally. Motorists have been urged to ensure accurate details to prevent rejection or delays.
