An FBI agent was reportedly dismissed for refusing to participate in plans to publicly perp walk former FBI Director James Comey following his federal indictment.
An FBI agent has been dismissed for declining to carry out a public “perp walk” of former FBI Director James Comey after his recent indictment, according to Reuters. The outlet reported that the agent was relieved of duty after refusing to stage Comey’s arrest in front of media cameras. MSNBC and CBS News also confirmed the dismissal, with CBS stating the bureau had considered a “showy” arrest and suspended the agent who would not take part.
Comey was indicted last week on two counts—false statements and obstruction of justice—by a grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia. He is scheduled to be arraigned on October 9 before Judge Michael Nachmanoff, a Biden appointee.

U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan said the charges relate to Comey’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2020, calling the conduct “a breach of the public trust at an extraordinary level.” Comey responded in an Instagram video, saying, “My family and I have known for years that there are costs to standing up to Donald Trump.”
