Nigerians demand Uche Nnaji’s resignation and prosecution after PREMIUM TIMES exposed his forged degree and NYSC certificates.
Nigerians have expressed outrage following revelations that the Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, allegedly forged his academic and NYSC certificates.
A two-year investigation by PREMIUM TIMES, published Saturday, found that Nnaji submitted fake credentials to President Bola Tinubu and the Senate during his 2023 ministerial confirmation. The report confirmed that both his University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) degree and NYSC discharge certificates were forgeries, with the minister admitting UNN never issued him any certificate.
Critics on social media condemned the act, demanding his resignation and prosecution. “Nnaji needs to confront the story by the Premium Times. Silence is not golden,” wrote Facebook user Ugo Egbujo.
Another user, Brendan Champion, said, “He should resign.” Investigative journalist Dayo Aiyetan described the scandal as “an indictment” of the Senate’s poor vetting process, urging Tinubu to dismiss and prosecute Nnaji.
