NUPENG has declared Senator Adams Oshiomhole persona non grata for criticizing PENGASSAN’s strike against Dangote Refinery, accusing him of betraying Nigerian workers and rationalizing their victimization.

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has declared Senator Adams Oshiomhole persona non grata over his criticism of the recent PENGASSAN strike against Dangote Refinery.

Oshiomhole had described the strike as “ill-considered,” saying new investors like Dangote should be allowed time to stabilise before facing labour action. “If you cripple a business before it even finds its feet, you are also destroying the jobs you claim to protect,” he said during an interview on Arise Television.

Reacting, NUPENG, in a statement signed by its President, Williams Akporeha, and General Secretary, Olawale Afolabi, accused Oshiomhole of “rationalising the victimisation of workers.” The union stated: “The Undistinguished position of Adams Oshiomhole on the PENGASSAN strike qualifies him as the JUDAS ISCARIOT of Nigerian Trade Unionism.”

The union added that it would no longer participate in any event featuring Oshiomhole, condemning his comments as a “monumental betrayal of the working class.”
