Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central on Tuesday resumed duties at the Senate, taking the same seat that led to her six-month suspension earlier in the year.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central on Tuesday returned to the Senate, occupying the same seat that led to her suspension in March. She entered the chamber shortly after Senate President Godswill Akpabio took over proceedings from his deputy, Barau Jibrin.
Dressed in a white outfit with a matching head tie and sunglasses, Akpoti-Uduaghan went straight to her seat in the minority section and was greeted by several colleagues. She has yet to contribute to deliberations since her return.
The Senate had suspended her for six months on the recommendation of its Ethics Committee, which accused her of defying seating rules and disrupting plenary on February 20. Following her suspension, her office was locked, and her security aides were withdrawn.
Her office was reopened on September 23 by the Sergeant-at-Arms, enabling her to resume work. Although she has completed her suspension, the case remains before the court.
