A Lagos lawyer, Obinna Okereke, was arrested after allegedly assaulting a judicial officer, Temilola Ossai, following a minor traffic collision at the Lagos State High Court.

Tension gripped the Lagos State High Court on Thursday after a lawyer, Obinna Okereke, Principal Partner of High Refuge Attorneys, allegedly assaulted a judicial officer, Temilola Ossai.

The incident occurred near the court’s entrance when Okereke’s champagne gold Toyota Sienna brushed Ossai, who was walking along the roadside. Witnesses said Ossai demanded an apology, but the lawyer allegedly became enraged, hurled insults, and physically attacked her, leaving her face bloodied. “The lady only asked him to apologise after the vehicle hit her. Suddenly, he got angry and started shouting. Before anyone could react, he punched her repeatedly,” an eyewitness recounted.

The incident caused panic and disrupted court activities before security personnel intervened and detained Okereke. Ossai received first aid treatment, while judiciary sources confirmed that a formal complaint was filed at the Area F Police Command for investigation and possible prosecution. Efforts to reach the lawyer for comment were unsuccessful.
