Tinubu’s aide slams Atiku over call for Nnamdi Kanu’s release

Tinubu’s aide, Temitope Ajayi, has criticised Atiku Abubakar’s call for Nnamdi Kanu’s release, describing it as “desperate” and “disgraceful.”

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu, Temitope Ajayi, has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of political desperation following his call for the release of detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a post on Thursday, Mr Ajayi said Atiku’s support for activist Omoyele Sowore’s planned #FreeNnamdiKanu protest was “a disgraceful agenda that undermines the rule of law.”

“The political desperation that will make a former Vice President and a supposed statesman advance this kind of disgraceful agenda is mind-numbing,” he wrote.

Atiku had earlier described Kanu’s detention despite court orders as “an open sore on the nation’s conscience.”

But Ajayi countered that Kanu’s prolonged detention was self-inflicted. “If Nnamdi Kanu has stayed long in detention and his case has dragged on, it is because he made it so himself,” he said.

Ajayi added that protests could not override court rulings, describing Atiku’s stance as “a dangerous political ploy unworthy of a former Vice President.”
