Fifteen residents were killed in Oke-Ode, Kwara State, as survivors blamed disarmed vigilantes and alleged sabotage amid ongoing bandit attacks.

At least 15 people were killed and several abducted when bandits stormed Oke-Ode in Kwara South on September 28, 2025, leaving the community in ruins. Survivors described the early morning assault as a massacre. “The government of Kwara State, they have killed my husband,” widow Fimihan Ishola lamented, accusing authorities of disarming local vigilantes before the attack.

Victims included the Baale of Ogba-Ayo, Abdulwasiu Abdulkareem, and a prince from Agunjin, Ishola Mohammed. Witnesses alleged that a military officer had withdrawn community weapons a day earlier, raising suspicion of sabotage. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq assured residents of continued support for security agencies, while the army launched “Operation Park Strike Four” to flush out bandits linked to the Mahmuda insurgent group. Since March, over 33 people have been killed across Kwara as violence spreads from forests in Niger and Zamfara states. The attacks have forced thousands to flee, with many communities now deserted.
