Arise TV anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu to be buried October 18 in Anambra

Arise TV has announced that late journalist Somtochukwu Maduagwu, who was killed during a robbery in Abuja, will be buried on October 18 in her hometown in Anambra State.

Arise News has announced the burial arrangements for its anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, who was killed during an armed robbery in Abuja on September 29, 2025.

The network stated that Maduagwu will be buried on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in her hometown of Agulu, Anambra State.

An evening of tributes will be held on Sunday, October 12, at the THISDAY Dome, Central Business District, Abuja, followed by a service of songs on Wednesday, October 15, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, Kaduna Street, Port Harcourt.

According to the station, the internment in Anambra will be preceded by a funeral mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Agulu.

Maduagwu, 29, was a lawyer, model, and respected broadcast journalist who served as an anchor, reporter, and producer at Arise TV. She died alongside a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, during the attack at her Katampe residence.

Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects linked to the crime.

“Preliminary investigations showed that the syndicate procured its firearms from an arms dealer operating across the Nigeria–Niger border,” said Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.
