Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is preparing to send a fresh list of commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly after retaining eight serving commissioners as part of his post-emergency cabinet reconstitution.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is set to forward a new list of commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly as part of efforts to reconstitute his cabinet following the expiration of the six-month emergency rule in the state.

Sources in the Government House, Port Harcourt, confirmed to The PUNCH on Sunday that the governor will retain eight commissioners unaffected by the recent Supreme Court judgment recognising Martin Amaewhule as the legitimate Speaker of the Assembly.

The retained commissioners include Dr. Adaeze Oreh (Health), Charles Amadi (Chieftaincy Affairs), Christopher Green (Sports), Joe Johnson (Information and Communications), Chisom Gbali (Youth Development), Victor Kii (Agriculture), Dr. Roseline Uranta (Women Affairs), and Nwafor Maximus (Energy and Natural Resources).

A senior official disclosed that a minor reshuffle is expected, adding that “the governor told them himself that there will be a reshuffle and asked them to prepare.”

According to the source, some loyalists of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, may be included in the new cabinet as part of the peace deal between the governor and the Assembly to sustain political stability in the state.
