FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has pledged to end the era of judges living in rented apartments in Abuja by 2027.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday announced major reforms for the judiciary in Abuja, vowing that no FCT High Court judge would live in rented accommodation by the end of President Bola Tinubu’s first term.
Speaking at the flag-off of official residences for Heads of Courts, Wike said, “We cannot afford to continue to see judges living in rented houses. By the end of President Tinubu’s first tenure, no judge of the FCT High Court will be living in rented quarters.”
He revealed that 10 duplexes each will be built for the Court of Appeal and Federal High Court, and 20 for the FCT High Court. Wike added that judges will retain the houses upon retirement, in line with Tinubu’s policy.
