Violence breaks out between Hamas and Gaza clan after ceasefire

Deadly clashes erupted in Gaza City as Hamas forces subdued the Doghmush clan following the recent ceasefire.

Several people were killed in Gaza City over the weekend during violent clashes between Hamas security forces and members of the Doghmush clan, multiple sources confirmed on Monday. The confrontation began shortly after the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect last week.

Witnesses reported gunfights on Sunday evening in the Sabra neighbourhood, with one resident stating that “about 200 members of the (Hamas) security forces were present and fought until they completely subdued” the clan. He added that both sides suffered casualties.

A Hamas Interior Ministry source acknowledged fatalities and said around 60 clan members had been arrested, accusing them of collaborating with Israeli forces. The Doghmush family denied the allegation but admitted some members had committed unspecified “transgressions”.

Clan representative Abu al-Hassan Doghmush claimed on Facebook that “it was enough to belong to the Doghmush family to be shot in the legs, killed, arrested, or have your house burned down.”
