A US-based Igbo professional group, Njiko Amaka, has accused Omoyele Sowore and Atiku Abubakar of exploiting Nnamdi Kanu’s legal case for political ends.
A coalition of Igbo professionals and businessmen in the United States, operating under the name Njiko Amaka, has criticised the planned Free Nnamdi Kanu Now protest scheduled for October 20, calling it a calculated attempt by presidential aspirants Omoyele Sowore and Atiku Abubakar to derail the ongoing trial of the IPOB leader.
In a statement signed by Chairman Emeka Ejidike and Secretary Okey Anosike, the group expressed concern that the protest could disrupt what it termed “steady judicial progress” in Kanu’s trial.
“We have watched with concern the activities of Sowore on the ongoing trial of our brother, Nnamdi Kanu. As if that isn’t worrying enough, Atiku Abubakar … has joined Sowore,” the statement reads, accusing both politicians of seeking political relevance through agitation.
Njiko Amaka also questioned the motivations behind both men’s involvement, pointing out Sowore’s pending criminal charges and criticizing what it termed “selective advocacy” by Atiku.
