The Nigeria Football Federation has officially cancelled the November friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia because the dates clash with the 2026 World Cup playoff matches.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has resolved to cancel the planned international friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia in November, following the Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2026 World Cup playoffs.
A top NFF official, speaking anonymously, stated: “The friendlies have been called off because the date clashed with World Cup playoffs slated for Morocco in November;” adding that “the clause in the friendlies allows cancellation should Super Eagles qualify for the 2026 World Cup.”
Originally, Nigeria was due to face Venezuela on November 14 and Colombia on November 18, but those fixtures would run into the playoff schedule.
The Super Eagles will contest a semifinal in Morocco on November 13 and, if successful, a final on November 16, making it impractical to stage additional international friendlies around those dates.
