Justice Omotosho has maintained that his order halting the PDP National Convention remains binding. He warned all parties against taking steps that could undermine the court’s authority.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has reaffirmed that his order maintaining the status quo over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention remains in force.
At Thursday’s proceedings, the judge cautioned that no party should take any action that could render the court’s decision meaningless, warning that he would issue consequential orders against anyone resorting to self-help.
The court’s reminder followed a complaint by PDP’s counsel, Chris Uche (SAN), who urged for a speedy hearing, arguing that the order had stalled the party’s preparations.
Justice Omotosho assured that judgment would be delivered before the end of October, emphasizing, “Once a suit is filed and parties have been served, no one should take any step on the matter.”
He fixed October 20 for the definite hearing of the suit filed by three PDP officials seeking to halt the planned convention in Ibadan and ordered all parties to exchange processes by October 17.
