Wike’s aide says claims that PDP leaders want him to contest against Tinubu in 2027 are false, insisting the minister remains loyal to the President “till 2031.”

The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, has dismissed reports claiming that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders held a meeting to urge Nyesom Wike to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Olayinka, in a statement on Friday, described the story as “another lie from idle minds who have nothing to contribute to the development of the country.”

“As far as Wike is concerned, it is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu till 2031,” he said, adding that “Wike does not function in hiding. He does what he says and says what he does.”

He clarified that the only meeting held on August 20, 2025, involved southern PDP stakeholders and focused on internal party zoning issues.

Olayinka reaffirmed that Wike remains committed to Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and to delivering the President’s vision for the FCT.
