Tinubu allegedly agrees with Southern Governors to hold all elections same day, offers re-election guarantees

Tinubu is accused of striking a covert deal with Southern governors to centralize the 2026 elections and weaken electoral transparency.

Fresh revelations suggest President Bola Tinubu allegedly reached a secret agreement with several Southern governors to hold all elections in a single day in November 2026.

Multiple sources report that the plan is part of a strategy to consolidate political control ahead of the next general polls. The wave of defections by governors and lawmakers to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was reportedly orchestrated during a closed-door meeting.

Since 2025, governors of Delta, Enugu and Bayelsa States have abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC. “The mass exodus of politicians to Tinubu’s APC party was hatched after a secret meeting with Southern governors,” a source claimed. In return for guaranteed re-election, the governors allegedly proposed simultaneous presidential, governorship, National Assembly and state assembly polls.

Sources further alleged Tinubu agreed to scrap electronic transmission of results from polling units, limiting it to collation centres instead. The reported plan also triggered a fallout with former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu.
