Davido’s meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron highlights deepening cultural and creative ties between Nigeria and France.
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has excited fans on social media after announcing his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The award-winning musician shared photos from the meeting on his official X account on Thursday, captioned, “It was an honour meeting #EmmanuelMacron and sharing our visions for a better world.” Although Davido did not reveal details of their discussion, the meeting underscores the growing cultural diplomacy between Nigeria and France.
Macron has long expressed admiration for Africa’s creative industries. In 2018, he visited the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos, calling it an “iconic centre for the propagation of African culture, strength and music.”
The encounter comes shortly after Lagos hosted the Création Africa Forum, an initiative of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs aimed at promoting collaboration and investment in Africa’s digital innovation sectors, including fashion, gaming, and animation.
