The EFCC says it has recovered ₦566bn, $411m and 1,502 assets in two years, with part of the funds redirected to national programmes including the Students Loan Scheme.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered over ₦566 billion, $411 million, and 1,502 properties within two years under its chairman, Ola Olukoyede.

Speaking in Abuja through Director of Public Affairs Wilson Uwujaren, Olukoyede said the agency recorded “unprecedented progress” in its anti-corruption drive, receiving over 19,000 petitions, conducting 29,000 investigations, and securing 7,503 convictions since October 2023.

Recovered assets include 753 duplexes in Abuja’s Lokogoma area and Nok University, now Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.

Olukoyede said part of the recovered funds had been channeled into key national programmes such as the Students Loan Scheme and Consumer Credit Scheme, with ₦100 billion invested.

He reaffirmed that corruption prevention remains central to EFCC operations, noting that 55 staff had been dismissed for misconduct.

“You cannot fight corruption with corruption,” he said, stressing his administration’s commitment to integrity and accountability.
