JAMB has cleared 85 underage candidates for admission under its exceptional admission policy.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved the admission of 85 underage candidates after a rigorous screening exercise under its exceptional admission policy. The candidates, who will be below 16 years by September 2025, were cleared following a comprehensive evaluation of their academic performance and documentation.

In a statement by its Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB said the decision aligns with “global best practices where underage cases are treated as rare exceptions rather than the norm.” Out of 2,031,133 candidates who applied for the 2025 UTME, 41,027 sought consideration under the special category, while 599 scored 80 percent or higher and were subjected to further scrutiny.

Following interviews and documentation, 85 candidates were found to have met all required standards. JAMB also gave candidates who scored 320 and above but failed to upload their O-Level results a two-day grace to do so before October 29.
