Republican lawmakers have called on the Justice Department to investigate NYC mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani’s citizenship, alleging fraud in his naturalization process.

Two House Republicans have urged the U.S. Justice Department to investigate New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani’s path to citizenship, alleging potential fraud during his 2018 naturalization.

Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) called for a review of “every naturalization of the past 30 years – starting with Mamdani,” describing him as “a threat to the nation.” Fine said, “If they’re not Americans, they can’t be in office.”

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) also claimed Mamdani failed to disclose his affiliation with the Democratic Socialists of America, calling it a “communist organization.” He urged the DOJ to “Deport Mamdani!”

Mamdani, who denies being a communist, has not responded to requests for comment. The Justice Department declined to confirm any probe, citing ongoing administrative delays.
