Ogun State residents have condemned Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for spending N2.3 billion on honorarium and refreshments amid worsening road conditions across the state.
A review of Ogun State’s third-quarter 2025 budget performance document has revealed that Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration spent N2.3 billion on honorarium and refreshments within nine months. According to the report, N1.4 billion was spent on honorarium and sitting allowances, while N923 million went to refreshments and meals.
The disclosure has sparked outrage among residents grappling with poor roads and failing infrastructure. Just days earlier, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ota Branch, staged a peaceful protest over the deplorable condition of roads in the state.
Led by its chairman, Chief K. K. Ajose, the protesters carried placards reading “Good roads are a right, not a privilege” and “Fix Ota roads now.” Ajose described the protest as a “clarion call” for urgent action, noting that the bad roads have “caused untold hardship, damaged vehicles, and crippled business activities.”
The NBA vowed to continue lawful advocacy until government intervention begins.
