Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has invited Senate President Akpabio to a project commissioning in Kogi, signaling reconciliation after her earlier suspension.
ABUJA — Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has extended an invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio to attend a project commissioning in her constituency, signaling a possible reconciliation after months of tension between both lawmakers.
The invitation, personally signed by Akpoti-Uduaghan, was read during Thursday’s plenary by Akpabio. The event, scheduled for Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, marks her second year in the Senate.
“In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” the letter read.
Akpoti-Uduaghan advised visiting Senators to use Obajana Airstrip before proceeding by road to Ihima.
In response, Akpabio congratulated her in advance, saying, “Congratulations in advance.”
The invitation follows a public dispute in February over seat reallocation, which led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension on March 6. Since her reinstatement on September 24, she has resumed active participation in plenary sessions.
The latest gesture is widely seen as a significant step toward mending relations with the Senate leadership.
