Idris says Tinubu remains calm and focused, assuring that Nigeria is taking steps to explain its efforts to tackle insecurity and promote religious harmony.
The Federal Government says it is adopting diplomatic and domestic measures to address recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Nigeria.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris disclosed this after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday.
He said, “Channels of communication have been opened with international organisations to explain what Nigeria has done, and what more we intend to do.”
Idris noted that Tinubu is meeting with religious leaders across faiths to promote unity, while engagements continue with international partners.
He dismissed claims that Nigeria is intolerant of religious diversity, calling them “absolutely false.”
“Nowhere in Nigeria has there been any policy or action that favours one religion over another,” he said.
The minister urged citizens to remain united, saying Tinubu is calm but taking the issue seriously. “Every relevant agency is addressing the matter with the seriousness it deserves,” Idris added.
