More than 17,000 Nigerians have signed a petition demanding an investigation into Senator Ned Nwoko over alleged abuse of power and intimidation of his wife, actress Regina Daniels, and her family.

According to SaharaReporters reporting, an online petition calling for a probe into what it describes as “a troubling pattern of abuse of power” by Nigerian lawmaker and businessman, Senator Ned Nwoko, has garnered 17,412 signatures as of Wednesday.

The petition accuses Nwoko of “obstructing fundamental human rights and intimidating Regina Daniels and her family,” calling for “justice and accountability” through a transparent government investigation. It further alleges that his conduct “reflects a misuse of influence that undermines the democratic principles Nigeria relies upon.”

Citing media reports, the petition claims that Nwoko “has leveraged his position and influence to obstruct legal rights and intimidate,” warning that unchecked impunity could erode public confidence in justice and governance. “By demanding a transparent investigation and subsequent legal actions against Nwoko, we can ensure that no public figure, regardless of their wealth or influence, is above the law,” it stated.

The petition follows allegations by Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, who accused her husband of orchestrating the arrest of her siblings to compel her return home for rehabilitation. “Someone pls help me. I feel like I’m losing my mind,” she wrote on Instagram.

Nwoko, in response, claimed Regina was battling “drug and alcohol addiction” and needed supervised rehabilitation in Abuja or Jordan.

A viral video showing the actress in distress has intensified public concern over the unfolding domestic and political controversy.
