Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, son of Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, has been confirmed as the new Chairman of Agege Local Government following the resignation of Tunde Azeez due to health challenges.
The son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, has been confirmed as the substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government after the resignation of Tunde Azeez.
Azeez, who proceeded on medical leave shortly after the July 27, 2025 inauguration, cited “persistent health challenges” as the reason for his resignation in a letter read by the council’s Leader, Adeshina Haruna.
Abdul-Ganiyu, who had earlier served as Acting Chairman, was unanimously confirmed by council lawmakers following Azeez’s formal exit. The legislators commended his leadership during his acting tenure and emphasized the need to maintain stability in governance.
“His appointment is a testament to his credibility and experience, and a signal of the council’s commitment to ensuring governance remains uninterrupted,” they said.
Azeez’s resignation and Abdul-Ganiyu’s confirmation mark a seamless transition of leadership within the Agege Local Government.
